Starting on August 1, challenge yourself to read one Proverb per day! It's easy to do and should not take more than a few minutes each day. It's a great way to jump start a habit of reading God's Word every day!
Come back each day for comments and encouragement! As always, feel free to post comments to that day's Proverb.
God Bless!
II Timothy 2:15 says, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." This site allows you to take Paul's challenge to Timothy to correctly handle the word of truth. The goal is to give Godly encouragement and provide a place for discussion about God's word that will help build your faith and strengthen your heart!

Reading the Bible 101
The difficulty in reading the Bible is that it is not always intuitive and not always easy. But, the Bible is God's inspired Word and meant for all to read. So, in light of the difficulties many people have with reading the Bible, here are a few quick pointers:
1. Pray First. Need clarity? Ask for clarity from the One who wrote it. Always take time to pray and ask the Lord to show you something during your study time.
2. Be Specific. Although I believe that you can open the Bible to any point and read a random scripture and God can show you something, this is not a good method for daily devotion. Pick a plan - either a book, a story, a topic or a character and study. You would not study algebra by randomly opening the book and memorizing a formula, so don't read the Bible like that either.
3. Meditate. The purpose of reading the Bible is not to memorize more than the next or to check off another to-do for the day. You read to understand more of God and His Glory and how to apply it to your life on earth. Take the time to understand what God intends for you to know.
4. Ask Questions. The last pointer I would give is to ask questions. Pastors, friends, or teachers, all have good input and might be able to give you instruction or a point of view that you missed, so don't be afraid to ask.
